A little gem in NEX – Men Men Don Don

29 Apr

Last Friday, 2 of my colleagues and I went to this little Japanese eatery in NEX to have lunch. I have always wanted to try their food but never have the chance to as it is always very crowded during lunch. We were lucky last Friday as there were 3 empty seats!

The eatery is very small but cosy, just like the eateries one will find in Japan itself. We ordered our food and took our seats facing the kitchen (open concept). Watching them cook increases my anticipation of my Hotate Tama Don (Scallop with egg rice)! Finally, my food arrived and I took a bite into the scallop – it was very fresh and delicious! There were 6 scallops altogether and I must say I’m surprised at their generosity. We finished our food very quickly and were very satisfied with our lunch. I give Men Men Don Don a thumbs up!

Fashion with a Tropical Touch

28 Apr

Next week, my company will be having its annual dinner and dance. The theme for the night is Topical Fiesta. Some of my colleagues are discussing about what to wear for the event. So, what does fashion with a tropical touch look like? Here’s my interpretations:

  • Bright colours
  • Floral or plam prints
  • Colourful wedges or sandals
  • Turqoise, coral or shell accesories
  • Canvas or straw tote bags
  • Straw hats and shades

My Favourtite Anime Theme Songs

22 Apr

Recently, I’ve watched a Japanese variety show that did a special episode on popular 80’s & 90’s songs that the Japanese love to sing during Karaoke. To my surprise, there were quite a number of theme songs from animes. So, I’ve decided to post some of my favourite anime theme songs here. Not sure if they are your favourites too 🙂

    #1: Records of Lodoss Wars – Adesso e Fortuna & 炎と永遠&風のファンタジア

#2: Rurouni Kenshi – Heart of the Sword

    #3: Evangelion – 残酷な天使のテーぜ

Spring Fashion in Japan

18 Apr

I’ve just returned from Japan, Osaka recently. The girls over there were already wearing their Spring fashion even though the weather was still slightly in the low 10’s.

Everywhere I went, girls were wearing either pleated skirts or organza skirts teamed with light-weight knits. To beat the cooler weather, they will wear a trench coat.
